SPOTLIGHTS
Harlem Annual Holiday Dinner
For the past several years, the Harlem Church of Christ has fed its local community homemade holiday dinners. The members of the Harlem Church dress dozens of turkeys, prepare pans upon pans of vegetables, dressing, desserts, salads and dish out these meals to all who come. In the past, we have fed up to 700 people via the distribution of meals from our building, and at-home deliveries to the sick and shut-in.
This year, holiday dinners will be distributed at the Harlem Church of Christ from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Christmas Eve (Saturday, December 24th). For those seeking to assist in this benevolent effort by cooking, see Sister Jessie Davis. We will need several volunteers to prepare the turkeys as well as prepare sides. (There are several details that go into preparing these meals, and in order to streamline food quantities, etc., we ask all volunteers to coordinate with Sister Jessie Davis. Unsolicited food donations, albeit generous, can make the process more difficult on Christmas Eve.) The Harlem Church will also need volunteers to assist in delivering meals to the sick and shut in. (More details about this facet will be explained as the date approaches.) For those who desire to assist with the meal set up, distribution and break down, we ask you arrive at the Harlem Church no later than 11:00 a.m. on Christmas Eve. God bless you.
Holiday Winter Warmers
We have, in the most recent years, added a new component to our holiday ministry: Winter Warmers. Harlem members are asked to purchase and donate brand new hats, socks, mittens/ gloves and blankets for the winter season. This ministry has been extremely successful in the past, so please feel free to bring your brand new items to the church over the next few weeks. Your kindness will bless many. Please note the following details regarding this ministry:
-
Materials must be brand new. Even if the coat/ blanket is in “good enough” condition, it will not be accepted.
-
Coats and blankets will be accepted at the Harlem Church of Christ until Christmas Day. After Christmas, we will not be accepting any additional material due to storage limitations.
December 25th Worship Services
Please note on your calendar that there will be only one worship service held on Sunday, December 25th at 10:00 a.m. Thank you.
