SPOTLIGHTS
Important Notice: Effective February 7th, New Worship Times!
Beginning on Sunday, February 7th, 2010, the saints of the Harlem Church of Christ will congregate for worship at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following worship, at 12:00 noon, we will commence Bible Study for all ages. A second worship service will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. The Harlem Church of Christ will keep its 6:00 p.m. evening worship service for saints who are unable to attend morning services. Mid-week Bible Study times will remain the same. This change in schedule is a “test run” to see how our Sunday Morning Bible Study attendance will be affected. If after 90 days, the saints find that the new meeting times do not benefit them, we will return to our original meeting times. We humbly ask that all members make note of the new schedule.
Singles and Young Adult Bible Study
Singles and Young Adults’ Bible Study will be held on Friday, February 5th, at 7:30 p.m. The theme: “Applying Christianity to Your Daily Walk in Order to Affect Detectable Change.” Many saints openly share that they have confidence the Scriptures. Many also voice that they have confidence in their knowledge of the Scriptures regarding matters of Faith and Doctrine. The dilemma that many Christians face is that they do not know how to be actively involved in the renewing of their minds. If this topic interests you, join us at 7:30 pm, February 5th…and be ready to affect change in your life. We are going to examine the crucial areas of our lives, investigate what they should look like for a Christian, seek out what are our individual setbacks and obstacles, and set spiritual goals that show God’s power in our lives. Some food will be provided, but please feel free to bring a dish or a financial contribution.

Google Calendaring and New Communications Technology
Have you ever “missed” an event at the church that you had your heart set on attending? Have you ever assumed that an event was taking place at the church building, only to discover upon your arrival that it was taking place at a sister congregation? Have you ever known the date of a great event, but could not recall the meeting time? The Harlem Church of Christ will be sampling the incorporation of a new tool designed to help us know all the critical details regarding events at the Harlem Church: Google Calendaring. Event reminders and notifications will begin to appear in the e-mail mailboxes of all members who have provided the church with their addresses. (An opportunity will be provided for all members to update their current contact information at a later date.) Google Calendaring is being tested in order to help members manage their time more effectively, and to mark their 2010 God’s Love Bank calendars with the dates and times of the Harlem Church’s many important events. We are also working to eliminate the church’s dependency on paper notifications and reduce printing costs by using more technologically-advanced methods to communicate and transmit important information. If you would like to ensure that you receive the church’s e-mail blasts, be sure to join our mailing list (the “H-List”) on our Contact Us page. It only takes a minute and the benefits are great. You can also provide your email address to sister Charity Ballard.

Announcing: Classic Dr. R.C. Wells Sermons on DVD
A series of vintage Dr. R.C. Wells sermons are being converted to DVD. This library of footage is continuously growing, and we are delighted and amazed as we witness the legacy of this dynamic minister of the gospel of Christ.
For those who may not know of Harlem’s minister emeritus, Dr. R.C. Wells is “set for the defense of the Gospel of Christ.” He has consistently and repeatedly made it irrefutably clear in his teaching, preaching, and writing that he is not “ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.” Dr. Wells has successfully engaged in public religious debates against opponents of the Gospel of Christ over several decades and many of these discussions were recorded for archival purposes. We are now making these debates available to the public. Do continue to check in with our website over the next few weeks to see a comprehensive list of these sermons available for ordering.

These DVDs are top-notch and we poured so much time and effort into them, we are confident you will not be disappointed. Pre-orders will be going out in the days to come. Please visit our website for all of the information required for individuals interested in placing new orders.
